The United States Army Officer
Candidate Schools Alumni Association
Personal History: MAJ (R) Dan Turner, OC 56-67, 65th Company, 6th OC
I attended OCS Apr-Sep 1967 during the height of the build up for Viet Nam. At Ft. Benning there were the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, & 9th OC battalions with six 200 man companies in each battalion. The vast majority of these candidates were commissioned in the Infantry as the other branches had OCS at their service schools. In 1967, when the 7-9th Bns graduated they were converted to NCOES battalions to train Infantry fire team leaders and squad leaders. There were many great warriors trained at Ft. Benning during this time in history. Many went on to great careers both in the military and civilian industry. Unfortuanately, most of us have lost contact with each other. Hopefully this homepage and the U.S. Army OCS Alumni Association will provide the vehicle to regain contact. I strongly encourage any former Army OCS graduate from any of the OCS, contact the alumni association and establish contact with your class mates.
