Personal History: Edgar G. Conner, Major (Ret)
I am a member of Infantry OC Class 20, 1942. Our class sent 2d Lt's to the 88th Inf Div (Blue Devils), activated at Camp Gruber, Oklahoma on July 15, 1942, and which served in Italy (344 combat days) after training in the US and North Africa. Many of my classmates were decorated, wounded, and killed. Capt. Robert Roeder, Co G, 350th Infantry was awarded the CMH posthumously at Battle Mountain, Italy in 1944.
The 351st Infantry, in which I served, became the key unit in Trieste US Troops from 1946 to 1954, and similarly, the 350th Infantry became US Forces in Austria after WWII. I served on active duty from 1940 to 1960. I have a souvenir Class Roster and I'm the only Class 20-42 OCS Alumni Association member. I'm not in touch with any of my classmates.
